Checked Yelp for reviews, liked the menu and after confirming they were still open for dinner (surprised that many restaurants in the area were already closed at 9), we walked to the restaurant. I've never had a more perfectly seared scallop. After waffling over the slow cooked pork shoulder, I opted for the Anchiote chicken prepared with free range organic chicken breast over creamy jasmine rice and a savory combo of corn, cilantro and Shishito peppers, drizzled with Anchiote- chili jus.. Would update the cost rating from. While there are menu selections I would characterize in the $$ range (apps, sandwiches, pizza) most of the entr. No alcohol on the check. We started with the conch fritters, which came out burn- your- mouth hot (this is a good thing). They were tasty and the remoulade served with it was excellent. The pork was fall- apart tender and delicious. The rice was beautifully seasoned and the slaw had a great acidic punch to cut the richness of the pork. The mushrooms were earthy and the dish was deliciously rich. I planned my husbands surprise 4. Saturday night & the staff was amazing! They accommodated all my needs & exceeded my expectations! The food was wonderful as usual! The event manager Nick was a delight to work with& so helpful! We had our own room & bar, they even had a screen we could use for a slide show video. Thanks so much for all your help! This place was great! Close to our motel and great atmosphere! Bar area is more casual. Dining shorts and collared shirt looks more appropriate but I was fine in shorts and gym shorts. The desert was delicious! Banana bread with ice cream on top I definitely recommend! I love this place. The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is relaxed, so I don't feel guilty bringing our 2 year old along. The seared scallop appetizer is my favorite thing on the menu. Can't wait to go back! Great restaurant. Our waitress (Katie) was awesome. She was very nice, friendly and recommends great food. I highly recommend the scallops & tuna because of their rich taste. Even though they are a seafood restaurant, they have delicious pizza. The Carnivore Pizza, was amazing and topped with all sorts of meats. Thanks to Katie for being a great waitress and making this restaurant an overall great experience. Black Fly was chosen by my girlfriends sister as it is one of her favorite spots and being just down the street from her house. I am a French fry fanatic and these were best ever! The shrimp excellent and servers were on it! Well worth the trip to st Augustine! We've been to Black Fly many times and typically love this place but something has changed in 2. We dined here in March with friends from Michigan and were disappointed. We returned again with a Jacksonville friend this past Saturday evening and were disappointed again. Who serves a 4 ounce piece of fish and charges $2. This is not a restaurant in the Chicago where fresh fish must be flown in driving up the price that is charged! The ocean is a few blocks away! We will be watching other reviews to decide when to return. My boyfriend and I made reservations on Open table which worked out perfect. The location is in a great spot. On the way their we took an uber ( coming from the ice plant) and on the way back we just walked back across the bridge; Really is a nice walk. I'm not sure we needed to make a reservation because even on St. Patricks day there were plenty of tables free, but it didn't hurt to anyhow. We got Daisy as our waitress and she was splendid! My boyfriend ordered the lobster mac and cheese and devoured it and I ordered that catch of the day with rice and veggies. The meals were very tasty. The wait staff was very friendly. We started in the bar with a drink before moving to the dining room for a magnificent dinner. My wife had the flat iron steak with truffle butter and I had the blue crab pasta. We shared an appetizer of artichoke and spinach dip and then split a salad. The wine selection is extensive. Our only complaint is we will not be able to return until we visit St. Augustine again. We ate here on a Monday night around 9 as it was one of the few places that was still open in the area, unfortunately, weren't aware how pricey it was but it was totally worth it! Augustine area we will absolutely be back. Wow!!! My husband and I ate here last night. Our waitress Daisy was charming and very helpful regarding the menu. Soft, moist, with an amazing sauce to go with. I didn't expect my salmon could compare, but it was pretty damn awesome also. Wish we had room for dessert but were stuffed. For the quality of the food, this seems well priced, we were pleasantly surprised. It was really out of this world and I recommend it above all others from whence I have dined in the area. Don't miss this place. Wow, wow, wow! Large portions, generous pours, and great service means regular visits. Once again, Black Fly continues to be the best restaurant (in my opinion) in St Augustine. My husband and son were a little disappointed that the spicy chicken dish was no longer on the menu but enjoyed their entree. The dessert were beyond words.
